Thankful

Thankful...the perfect word that describes my life right now. I could use the word "busy" but I choose to use "thankful." There is so much going on right now but as challenging or stressful as things may seem at times, each thing is a true blessing to me. I know that each thing going on in my life right now has been specifically placed there for a purpose, according to God's will for my life.

Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."

I cannot even begin to express how true this is. It is something I have learned so much in the last couple of years (sometimes the hard way). I know that God always has my best interest first and he knows what that best interest is even at times when I don't. There have been many situations where I thought I knew what I wanted and have gotten upset/angry/depressed/hurt when things didn't turn out the way I wanted them to. But that's just it..it was how I "wanted" them. Not what was necessarily best for me. Although I couldn't see it, God always knows what's ahead and what is to come. If you truly give your heart to Him and put all your trust completely in Him, he WILL show you the plans he has for you. I know that what my God has in store for me is GREATER and BETTER than anything I could have planned for myself :) Greater than anything I could have ever WANTED for myself.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight."

busy life

I have been SO busy lately; it's been so crazy! I'm very much enjoying this weekend since it's one of the first non-busy days I've had in over a month! Between work, church choir and musical rehearsals, being sick and increasing my business, I've not had a lot of free time lately. Things are going well but I have much enjoyed the calmness lately. And I will greatly enjoy our little mini-vacation next week with Thanksgiving!

I am excited to start grad school at U of H in a few weeks! It's making me a little anxious/nervous as I sometimes think, "How can I possibly take on something else let alone something like that?" But I know that I can do it. God has placed a very special calling upon my life to be a teacher and now that I have been teaching special education I see just how great that calling is. I am going to graduate school to get my Masters degree in Educational Psychology/Special Education. It's gonna take me some time since I'll only be taking 1-2 classes per semester (it's ridiculously expensive!) but I know that with determination, hard work, and perseverance I will get it done. I want to work *someday* for a school district as a special ed coordinator/director; doing even more to help these amazing, special kids.

Getting back to normal

Well we survived Hurricane IKE and all its aftermath! No damage to our house except for the fence falling down. We went to Dallas Sun. Mon. and Tues and I got to shop!!! And see my sister!!! The hotel a.c. was wonderful! On Wed. mom's house had power and I stayed there at the shelter! :) The next few days were pretty boring. Didn't do much except watch alot of t.v. I watched more t.v. that week than I have in the past year! The internet was out so that's pretty much all there was to do.

Our power finally came back on yesterday-Tues. after being out for a long 10 days! I came home and started doing some Premier stuff and getting things cleaned up. Went back to work today for staff development. We didn't have much to do but went out for a yummy sushi lunch. Tomorrow the kids come back to school so that should be interesting. The 2 week unexpected vacation will probably having us start all over like the first day of school!!!!

Tomorrow I'm putting in my orders for my training show..YES..the one that was on Sept. 11. That was the day of my show but thanks to IKE's visit, I kept it open so I could get more orders. So I guess that means that tomorrow is my OFFICIAL actual start of my business! I will begin having home shows. I have a few lined up! I'm super excited and have been anxious due to it being postponed for the last few weeks. I am trying to get as many shows as I can!!!!!

Things are actually starting to feel like they're getting back to normal...somewhat. :)

3 day weekend

It's a 3 day weekend! YAY for Labor day! The first week of school went really well, although was a looooooong one. By yesterday, we were all so tired! Having Monday off is exactly what we need. I'm just getting used to being on my feet all day long and lifting kids. I have 3 wheelchair kids and that is something that I didn't really think about. Guess I'm gonna have to start lifting weights!!! :) HA!

I am spending today working on Premier stuff. I can't believe that my launch is in 12 days! That is when I will have my training show and officially start my business!!!! My show will be at Humble Elem. library on Sept. 11 at 3:45pm. I am inviting everyone and hope you can come and support the start of my business. Plus you have the easiest opportunity to earn FREE jewelry for yourself. Even if you can't come, I'd love to meet with you to show you a catalog and show you how to earn free jewelry. I PROMISE it's easy!

Have a great and restful weekend!

Back to Work

Today was the teachers first "official" day back to work. Which is why I'm writing this in "Humble Elementary" purple ink. I love the new school, our new rooms and everyone there seems really nice and open to having our new special ed kids on the campus. But it does feel wierd, not like home. I guess it will take us a few weeks to get adjusted and get to know everyone. The good thing is that since I worked my butt off last week, I'm almost done with my classroom. I can take it easy this week and get more of the planning stuff done! It will be exciting once the kids come next week and we can start getting used to a routine. I miss all my old Pine Forest friends and special ed team though!!!!

Sheryl Crow and James Blunt

Okay so we went to the concert which was alot of fun. Except: they wouldn't allow cameras to be brought in!!!!!!!!! AHHHH...I love taking pictures and I was determined. So I hid my camera in Kristin's makeup bag and snuck it in!!!! I spent alot of time sneaking taking pictures. 106.9FM radio station gave away these paper fans which came in handy not only to provide cool fan air but to hold up and block my camera while taking pictures...which became Kristin's job. It really was funny trying to take pictures quickly and being on the "lookout" for event staff to walk by!!!

Toots and the Maytals opened up. I"ve never heard of them but they were pretty interesting. It's reggae music and it was pretty catchy stuff. The Toots guy sounded like Sebastian from the Little Mermaid as Kristin said :) HA! She was right.

James Blunt came on next and was completely AWESOME!!! He has such a strong voice and can put on a great show. He's funny and at one point took off from the stage and ran into the audience, up the aisle and across the entire lawn. I wish we would have had lawn seats for that reason only!!! His songs were great and he's such a cutie :)

Sheryl Crow was last to play and she was good too! She played alot of newer stuff. The best part was when James came out again and they sang "The first cut is the deepest" together! It was great!!!! A little side note...she is SUPER skinny seeing her in real life.

So all in all, we had a good time. I wish I would have been able to take better pictures :( Most of them came out blurry since I was taking them fast and once it got dark I had to adjust the setting on the camera to "distance scenery landscape" mode so it wouldn't flash. But some pictures turned out okay and I posted them on myspace. They are under my pics under the Summer '08 album. Which sadly is probably the last pictures that will go under that album!
